Met Office issues yellow ice warning as wintry showers and sub-zero temperatures forecast

Time to dig out the 'big coat'. After an unseasonably warm start to winter, forecasters are warning about a potential “shock to the system”.
Temperatures are expected to dip with a blast of arctic air set to bring us our first taste of winter which could last a couple of weeks.
According to the Met Office; "Icy patches are expected to develop later Wednesday evening or overnight. There will also be some wintry showers about, mainly over hills and mountains, but also to some lower levels at times, with the exception of high ground, most places will not see any snow settling."
The warning which covers all counties comes into affect from 10pm Wednesday evening lasting through to 11am Thursday.
With night time temperatures expected to fall below zero, drivers will have to brace themselves for frost in the mornings - worth stocking up on de-icer.
We have had it so good recently, it had to turn cold at some point.
