Snow joke! Met Office forecasts wintry weather for Northern Ireland
The mild weather is set to come to an end this week as snow and sub-zero conditions are expected to hit Northern Ireland.
Diane McKain from the Met Office, says there are three different warnings in place:
The first applies to the whole of Northern Ireland with blizzard conditions forecast from teatime on Wednesday through to Thursday lunchtime.
Then from noon on Thursday through to Friday, snow is expected in the North West of the province with 2-5 cm on lower ground and the same in the East.
And the Met Office adviser said levels of snow could reach 10-20cm in places.
The office has issued this advice for motorists: "Drive for the conditions, take extra care on the roads and travel only when needed."
There is also potential for lightning in the snow showers and some disruption is expected to power supplies.
