Weather: PSNI warning to public to leave Banbridge park
It comes after an unprecedented period of flooding in Co Down
Police have issued a warning to the public to avoid Solitude Park in Banbridge - due serious flooding.
A PSNI spokesperson said the level of the River Bann had "risen dangerously high".
"We would ask any parents or guardians who may have children in the park to make sure they leave immediately," the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, police are also asking people to avoid Newry which saw some of the worst of the overnight flooding.
District Commander Superintendent Norman Haslett said: “We are continuing to warn the public to avoid Newry City Centre and the surrounding area because of excessive flooding due to the canal bursting its banks overnight and heavy rainfall.
“I would also urge people to keep away from the canal and the river at this time due to the hazardous conditions caused by high water levels and the fast flowing current.”
