Police are investigating an aggravated burglary at a takeaway restaurant in Newtownards.

It was reported to police just before half past eight on Friday morning a window had been broken at the business premises and access gained.

A laptop and number of soft drinks were taken.

A man who was later arrested - remains in police custody.

A PSNI spokesperson said early on Friday evening: “Officers attended and a man was arrested in the William Street area on suspicion of a number of offences including aggravated burglary with intent to steal and theft.

“He remains in police custody at this time.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anyone suspicious in the area between the hours of 3.30am and 10.30am or to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with enquiries, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 320 of 27/10/23."
