Superintendent Melanie Jones said she was appealing directly to the public to help identify the man, whose death is not being treated as suspicious.
He was found on Friday afternoon at the natural beauty spot in Belfast.
The man was described as being of average build, 5’ 8” in height, clean-shaven and with short, grey hair.
He was wearing navy jeans, a long-sleeved, dark grey top and size 10 grey and navy trainers.
He also had a bandage on his left, upper arm – which police believe could have been for a muscle injury.
A house key was also found in his possession, but no other personal items that could help with identification.
