Booster jabs will be offered to 18+ age group from Monday

Published 17th Dec 2021

People aged from 18 to 29 will be able to get their Covid booster vaccination from Monday 20th December.

Booster vaccines will be a single dose of either Pfizer or Moderna - regardless of which vaccine you received for your first two jabs.

The vaccine booster programme is being accelerated in Northern Ireland amid fears over the new Omicron variant.

The Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast has been earmarked as Northern Ireland’s latest mass vaccination centre.

The new large-scale facility will offer walk-in and appointment options for boosters and first and second doses of Pfizer. Not to be confused with the nearby Titanic visitor centre, the Exhibition Centre normally hosts large-scale events such as trade shows.

It will open its doors as a new vaccination centre early next week, as part of the concerted drive to protect the population from the expected COVID-19 Omicron variant surge. It has been secured for the vaccination programme in a landmark agreement between the South Eastern Health Trust and TBL International.

When can I get my booster?

From Monday, a booster is now available to every adult aged 18 or over in Northern Ireland, as long as it's at least three months since their second dose.

If you have tested positive for Covid recently, you should wait 28 days from the date of the test before having your booster.

Where can I get my booster jab?

People in the 18-29 age group should be able make booster appointments online from next Wednesday, 22 December.

Depending on where you live, some walk-in appointments may be available a walk-in hubs.
