NIRSA records 78 Coronavirus deaths

The number of Coronavirus related deaths in Northern Ireland has now reached 1,141.

According to the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) another 78 Covid related deaths have occurred between October 31 and November 6.

Of this total, 665 (58.3%) deaths took place in hospital, 394 (34.5%) in care homes, nine (0.8%) in hospices and 73 (6.4%) at residential addresses or other locations.

The 403 deaths which occurred in care homes and hospices involved 97 separate establishments.

The NISRA figures are based on the information entered on death certificates, completed by medical professionals.

They may or may not have previously tested positive for the virus.

However, the Department of Health’s figures are based on patients having previously tested positive for the virus.

The number of Covid Related deaths recorded by the DOH is 825, which is 316 less than NISRA’s.

Yesterday (Thursday) the daily dashboard showed a further 15 people died after contracting the virus.

However, 11 of those occurred since 2pm yesterday, while another four deaths occurred before that.

The data showed 548 more people tested positive from 2,892 individual test.

While, 409 hospital inpatients currently have the virus, and 49 of them are in ICU.

There are 26 available ICU beds at present.
