NI entertainment industry ‘generates €398m’ in a year

The Northern Ireland entertainment industry has generated an estimated €398m for the economy over a 12-month period, according to a recent report.

The ‘Let’s Celebrate 2017’ report also claims that overall, the industry is worth €1.7bn to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

It also claims that music events, arts, theatre, comedy and family attractions supported 2,608 local jobs over the course of a year.

The information was gathered based on sales at Ticketmaster, by BOP Consulting.

Justin Green, MD of Wide Awake Communications, proposed the research and said it was the first of its kind.

"We felt it extremely important that every element of the report, including both the figures and research be quantifiable, tangible and verifiable,” he said.

“The audit is based on factual information and presented in a format which provides a template for the industry to build upon.”
