Homes evacuated after major gas leak in Antrim

A number of fire engines and specialist appliances were called to the scene last night

The police and fire service were sent to a major gas leak in Antrim on Thursday night.

It's understood a contractor ruptured a gas main while digging in the Stiles Way area.

Police issued a warning to local residents asking them to remain inside and keep their windows and doors shut.

A number of people who were evacuated have been allowed to return home.
