Game of Thrones Throwback: Top 5 Villains Countdown
By Abby Williams
Fans of Game of Thrones will be all to familiar with the show’s villains but here’s a reminder of exactly why we love to hate them.
5. Viserys Targaryen
Remember Daenerys’ manically delusional brother from the earlier seasons? Prior to his brutal death, which we were all really rather pleased about, he emotionally and physically tormented his sister for years on end.
It may have helped make her the badass she’s now become but his vile tantrums and general horribleness made us glad to see the back of Viserys. Definitely not a candidate for Brother of the Year.
Crimes: Threatening and beating Dany, marrying his non-consenting sister off to a Dothraki warlord.
Villain Rating: 6/10
4. Joffrey Baratheon
Joffrey was always a self-righteous little brat but his outrageous antics increased tenfold when he became King to the point of...well, sadism.
Mad with power, he took great pleasure in inflicting pain on those around him. Let’s ust be glad he was killed off before he caused anymore chaos.
Crimes: Chopping off Ned Stark’s head, taunting Sansa Stark with her Dad’s head, having people killed/tortured for the sheer fun of it.
Villain Rating: 7/10
3. Cersei Lannister
It’s no wonder Joffrey turned out to be such a monster really, his Mother is a serious force to be reckoned with. Yet for some reason we just love to hate her.
Despite not actually ruling the Seven Kingdoms, Cersei still manages to exert ruthless control over much of Westeros. Not to mention her put downs are just awesome (Remember “If you ever call me sister again, I'll have you strangled in your sleep”?) Combine that with her ability to fill a man with fear in just one sinister glance and you’ve got a proper Lady-Villain.
Crimes: Poisoning her husband, ordering the death of all King Robert’s illegitimate kids, copulating with her brother beside her son’s corpse.
Villain Rating: 8/10
2. The Night’s King
I know we haven’t seen all that much of the White Walkers’ leader yet, but that doesn’t make him any less terrifying. For one, he doesn’t say much. And two, well he looks pure evil.
The real threat to the Seven Kingdoms is the Night’s King and his growing army. Not only are they almost impossible to kill (and there seems to be a serious shortage of Dragonglass) but they can destroy everyone and then raise them from the dead to join their army. How on earth can you compete with that?
Crimes: Stealing babies and turning them into White Walkers, building an Army of the Dead to take over the world.
Villain Rating: 8/10
1. Ramsey Bolton
If there’s one character that literally makes you shudder it’s Rhamsey. The crazed eyes, the demonic smile...he truly is the perfect sociopath.
We could assume that his lust for torture stems from being the bastard son of Lord Bolton, but this is definitely a morbid example of abandonment issues gone awry.
Crimes: Mutilating Theon, turning him into a fearfully loyal/brainwashed/sub-human hostage, rape, murder and more torture.
Villain Rating: 10/10
Game of Thrones Season 6 is back April 24.
