BLOG: PK visits Mount Stewart

Published 23rd May 2016

Ah the wonderful Mount Stewart, the 19th-century house and garden in County Down, just off Strangford Lough.

I was so pleased that you voted for me to come here! When you first drive up to the entrance you start to get the chilled vibe that this location has.

As I walked through the courtyard I came out on to the grounds and was instantly hit with how amazing the size of this property is. You look down and see the actual house and the surrounding gardens that host so many events… whatever the weather!

The house is incredible, the size and the history. The first thing I thought of was how amazing would the parties have been here? I have taken a tour before, I highly recommend it; words can’t really describe the grandeur!

As it was a great day I decided to stay outside and go for a leisurely walk around the gardens. I remember being at Jazz in the Park here a while back it’s is a great time to bring a picnic and relax with the family. It’s happening again on 26th June at Mount Stewart, (make sure to note in the calendar!)

You don’t realise as you approach the lake how huge it actually is… I remember the first time I saw it, at the Festival of Light with all the colours bouncing off the water; the setting is fantastic. It is surrounded by greenery- from trees, areas of grass with beautiful bursts of colour… it’s actually really impressive and at this time of the year children can get a view of the swans and baby ducks!

As I finished the lap of the lake I headed back towards the main house, I couldn’t miss out on grabbing a quick cuppa at the café… well you have to, don’t you? And a visit is never complete without a visit to the gift shop.

It was a brilliant day and whether you have a family, want a romantic walk, or just fancy some fresh air in an amazing location, Mount Stewart has it all… really impressed with the place… I can’t wait to go again!

Cheers, PK!
