Instagram will now notify someone when you screenshot their stories
Consider this your warning!
The worst thing that could happen on Instagram used to be an accidental double-tap when you’re 42 weeks deep in someone’s photos, but now developers behind the app are trialing something that sounds almost as bad as the new Snapchat update!
Instagram’s latest feature sends a notification to users when someone takes a screenshot of their story, which is bad news for those of us that are guilty of the occasional snap. Whether it’s when a celebrity posts something they shouldn’t or that fake friend uploads something cringe, it’s just got to be done sometimes, right?
The new feature is currently in the test stage and those that are involved will receive a warning before pressing the button so they don’t get caught out. The warning message says, 'Next time you take a screenshot or screen recording, the person who posted the story will be able to see', which would be EXTREMELY awkward!
Twitter user @readbyher has done us all a favour and shared what it looks like when someone screenshots your story, revealing that a camera shutter icon appears next to the user’s name in the list of viewers.
“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” Instagram bosses told TechCrunch.
But users are STRESSING about it, with one unhappy Instagrammer tweeting, 'The day Instagram allows us to see who screenshots our images is the day the world ends', and the decision which has already spawned some hilarious memes.
No more screenshots for the group chat, then!
