Meghan Markle's dad, Thomas Markle, has spoken out about the Royal Wedding exclusively to Good Morning Britain, saying his daughter's "been a princess since the day she was born." Thomas, who missed his daughter's special day due to illness, is currently recovering from a heart operation and said he was "doing much better".
When asked about the moment Meghan revealed details of her new boyfriend, Thomas said it happened over a series of phone calls. In the first phone call she revealed she had a new boyfriend, and eventually by the third call she revealed, "He’s a Prince"! Thomas eventually had a chance to speak to Prince Harry and described him as a, "Very nice man. Gentleman. Very likable".
However, he revealed he has yet to meet the new Duke of Sussex saying, “It’s been over the phone, always over the phone. We have yet to see each other face to face. We’ve had interesting conversations on the phone. He’s a smart guy."
Meghan's father also revealed that he wasn't nervous the first time he spoke to Prince Harry on the phone, admitting, “No, he’s quite easy to talk to. He’s a very comfortable person to talk to. I wasn’t nervous, 5,000, 10,000 miles apart it’s hard to be nervous with someone you're talking to on the phone.”
The topic of the interview then went on to Thomas's intention to attend the Royal Wedding on the 19th May. “I was excited about it and ready for it. The idea of me being at the wedding… Everything was set in place for me to go,” Thomas explained. However, just days before he was due to travel he suffered problems with his heart, admitting, "I’ve got a bit of a heart condition."

Despite wanting to travel to the UK he was told his condition was very bad and they had to operate on his heart, in an operation that doctors call the 'widow maker'.
Thomas is now recovering and speaking on Good Morning Britain he said, "I’m slowed down bit but I'm feeling better. They Harry and Meghan were disappointed but they both said, Meghan cried I sure, she did cry and they both said take care of yourself we are worried about you they said the important thing was I get better."
The Royal Wedding took place on the 19th May 2018 and saw royalty and celebrities attend the special day, including the likes of Amal and George Clooney, Victoria and David Beckham, Elton John, Oprah Winfrey and Meghan's former Suits co-stars. See the gallery from the Royal Wedding below.
