It's a Strictly Come Dancing tradition that the previous year's winner will come back to perform on the launch night of the new series. In recent years, former Strictly Come Dancing winners Caroline Flack, Ore Oduba and Jay McGuiness all returned to perform on the opening night of the new series.

HOWEVER. It seems as though the tradition will not be carried on this year, as 2017 winner Joe McFadden will reportedly not be performing.

The Holby City actor won the show last year with Katya Jones, beating Alexandra Burke and her partner Gorka Márquez, Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice and Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Skorjanec.

According to The Daily Mirror, the 42-year-old dropped out after show bosses wouldn't let him perform his chosen routine, with a show source telling the publication, "Joe didn’t want to do the dance selected but they wouldn’t let him do something else. It’s a shame.

"Every year, the winner is invited back to perform a standout routine – for Ore Oduba that was his jive, Jay McGuiness did his Pulp Fiction jive, and Caroline Flack came back to salsa again."

Speaking in an interview with the BBC, the TV presenter and model said, "Thank you so much, it's been so hard to keep it secret!" before adding that she's struggled not to tell her friends who have invited her to events later in the year. The only person I told is my husband through text message and he thought I was joking!" she laughed, adding, "I don't have that natural rhythm but I like the fact there's a challenge."
