Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack's career has gone from strength to strength after her character Ronnie Mitchell was shockingly killed off on New Year's Day 2017. Not only did she appear in Hollywood blockbuster Kingsman and its sequel, she also starred as Morticia Addams in a UK tour of stage show The Addams Family.

But now, the Eurovision star could be turning her hand back to her original talents of music and dance by starring in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to the Mirror, Samantha revealed that she was taking the summer off and returning to TV in September "for something that hasn't been announced yet."

She said, "I hate auditions, I hate people judging me. I’m much better in a safer environment. I would really have to manage my anxiety on a job like that.

"I’ve done lots of musicals but I’m not a dancer, so I would be nervous about that. What appeals to me is the fitness and I love dancing in general."

These celebrities could be set to star in this year's Strictly Come Dancing...

Coleen Rooney

After welcoming her fourth child into the world in January, Coleen Rooney is reportedly 'in talks' with Strictly bosses to appear on the show.

She went on to add that she'd been asked to do the show many times before whilst she was starring in EastEnders, but admitted that her storylines had always been "too tragic and traumatic" to be on the show.

She then joked, "I was too busy crying for a living, so I couldn’t get enough rehearsal time. I would love to compete against my sister off EastEnders (Rita Simons). We could be really, really bad losers!"

However, the 45-year-old has now rubbished the rumours, taking to Twitter to categorically deny the appearance.

But could this be a red herring? Only time will tell...
