Bake Off's Mak shares touching letter following controversial exit

This brought a tear to our eye!

After one of the best opening episodes in the show's history last month, The Great British Bake Off was back for Biscuit Week on Tuesday night (29th September), but the episode didn't go down without any controversy.

As the 11 remaining bakers were asked to create Florentine biscuits in the Signature Challenge, macaroons in the Technical Challenge, and an amazing 3D biscuit sculpture for the Showstopper Challenge, viewers were left fuming at Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith's decision to send home Makbul Patel.

Mak had an average performance in the Showstopper and Signature rounds, but impressed in the Technical with his macaroons.

However, despite Mak's fellow contestant Rowan having a bit of a nightmare all round in the last two weeks, it was poor Mak who was eliminated.

Following his shock exit, the lovely Mak has now made us all emotional by releasing an open letter about his time on the popular Channel 4 show.

It reads, 'There aren't that many shows on TV that brings a nation together. In recent times only one sticks out and it's the Bake Off. A show of legendary stature and iconic value.

'The stars aligned for me for Series 11 (2020). The world was in turmoil but for me 2020 was all about Bake Off. The privilege to have been selected and go in front of the nation with my quirky features was unbelievable.

'It was an honour to be part of a show that was a beacon of light. There is always hope in baking.

'Let's end oppression and inequality through our kindness and love. GO BAKE OFF!'

Brb, whilst we wipe away our tears! 😭
