Love Island's Yewande Biala: 'I Don’t See Arabella And Danny Ever Working On The Outside'
Danny picked Arabella over Yewande!
On Monday night, much to the dismay of thousands of viewers, Yewande Biala was dumped from the Love Island villa. Controversially, the Irish scientist was forced to leave the villa after the recoupling, when Danny Williams - the model who she was coupled with - chose ‘bombshell’ Arabella Chi over her (despite the fact he had only known Arabella for three days).
Now, the 23-year-old has given her first interview to Grazia, revealing why she thinks the new couple won’t work on the outside, why she thinks Danny played her and why maybe Anton Danyluk should have picked her to stay in the villa instead of Lucie Donlan.
How are you feeling now the dust has settled?
"I’m disappointed that my journey was cut really short, I feel like I had so much more to give. And I feel like I didn’t experience the whole Love Island experience. But looking back now I probably now I probably left at a good time. Obviously I’m struggling with the Arabella and Danny situation but I was there more days than some people would have hoped for. Just to even get the chance to be on the show and experience the emotions – i’m really lucky for that."
What’s your verdict on Arabella?
"I didn’t get to know her as a person – obviously she was trying to steal the guy I was coupled up with. I don’t know her well enough but at the end of the day she is a bombshell. She came in to get what she wanted and that’s what she did. I don’t know if she likes Danny or maybe he was the easiest to go for. Looking at it from the inside, I don’t see them ever working on the outside because of the age gap Arabella is 28, Danny is 21 . Knowing Danny and knowing her a little bit, they’re in different stages of their lives. It might work in there but it won’t work on the outside."
Do you think Danny played you a little bit?
"Yeah I do. I’m not sure because I haven’t watched the episodes back so I haven’t seen what’s been shown and what not has been shown. I do remember one conversation we had were he said he would rather be single in the villa than experience it with anyone else. He said that his head would never be turned. And even when Arabella did come him he did say to me that he wasn’t interested at all and he wasn’t going to look at her in the slightest. To go from that extreme, from 100 to 0 real quick made me question how genuine he was as a person. And when Arabella did come into the villa, I didn’t hear a word from him for the three days we were both in there for. It makes me question how genuine he is as a person."
Do you think you could have behaved differently?
"I don’t think I could have behaved differently. Just before Arabella came in – we were having that little blip – and we did have a discussion that I did say that I would be more affectionate because i’m not an affectionate person. But I said I would be more affectionate and put in a little more effort and that’s exactly what I've done and obviously that was thrown in my face."
What did you mean by what goes around comes around?
"I don’t have a revenge plan for him. I just meant that there is a guarantee that whoever you are coupled with their heads will be turned as well. So, what I meant by what goes around comes around: someone will come in for Arabella and her head will be turned and he’ll know how I felt."
How much of it is staged?
"Everything happens organically; the bonds that are formed, the romantic couples - they’re all organic. At the end of the day it is a reality TV show, but I would say if not everything is real and organic. Cameras are everywhere and they are there for a reason. They can’t miss anything really."
Do you think it was unfair with Lucie that she was saved?
"I had a conversation with Anton where I said that I thought no one deserves to be here anymore than anyone else. But if it did come down to Lucie, I made it clear that I wanted to stay and that I had had a rough time, and a hard time finding someone I connected with and when I did open up – it was thrown in my face. I feel like the Love Island experience, you’re supposed to experience your highest highs and your lowest lows.
"I felt like I experienced my lowest lows and really didn’t experience my highest highs. Lucie was ready to walk for Joe – she got to experience her highest highs in finding him and one of her lowest lows was when he left. I feel like she had the full Love Island experience. I personally don’t know Lucie very well but I don’t think she’s open to meeting someone else. She has a specific type – her ideal type would be a surfer and the chances of a surfer coming in are pretty slim. So I’m not sure how genuinely open she is to meeting someone."
What aftercare did you receive and did the producers check on you because you seemed to go through a rough time?
"Throughout the whole journey there were always people checking on you. There was psychologist on set 24/7 and you have so much support and even coming out as well I've had so much support. The minute I came out, five minutes later I was with the psychologist having a chat. I feel like the aftercare has been amazing. Knowing that I have people around me that care, and knowing that there is a team around me dedicated to my welfare."
After Yewande's departure, check out how the current Islanders are coupled up:
Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan
Despite their little hiccup when Anton kissed Anna in the challenge, these two seem stronger than ever! Anton's mum even told Caroline Flack she thinks Belle is the 'perfect' girl for her son!
Could these two win?
Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard
After Amy left the villa, Maura set her sights on Curtis and she certainly got what she wanted. After the last recoupling, Maura chose to couple up with Curtis, admitting she finds him 'very manly'.
Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea
Despite Michael trying to win Amber back, the Geordie girl decided to couple up with new boy Greg after he put a smile back on her face, leaving viewers very happy!
Ovie Soko and India Reynolds
New girl India arrived into the villa and she was quick to make basketball player Ovie her own. This is Ovie's first romantic relationship since he entered the villa, and we couldn't be happier!
Harley Brash and Chris Taylor
New girl Harley couldn't resist Chris' hilarious charm. The Geordie girl chose to couple up with him at the last recoupling, with the pair later sharing a kiss in the garden.
Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
They've pretty much been together since the beginning, and it looks like nothing is going to get in the way of Tommy and Molly-Mae's romance.
Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames
Despite being in the bottom three at the last dumping, Anna and Jordan are one of the strongest couples in the villa, with the pair even making things official!
Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
They went official and said the 'l word', so it was no shock when Molly-Mae chose to recouple with hunky boxer Tommy. Will these two win the show?
Francesca Allen and Curtis Pritchard
New girl Francesca caused an almighty stir when she chose to couple up with newly-single Curtis, despite Maura expressing her interest in the dancer.
However, after days of getting to know both girls, on Monday night's episode, Curtis chose Maura.
Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan
It looks like Scottish hunk Anton has finally found happiness! After weeks of being pied off, Belle chose to recouple with gym owner.
Ovie Soko and Amber Gill
After getting her heart broken by Michael, and breaking down about her feelings towards him, Amber chose to couple up with Ovie (as friends).
Joanna Chimonides and Michael Griffiths
Despite his heart rate being raised the most by ex-flame Amber, Joanna chose to couple up with fireman Michael.
However, the pair were split up when Joanna was DUMPED from the villa in a shock twist on Monday night. Despite many urging Michael to leave with her, the fireman has remained in the villa.
Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames
Anna was quick to realise her real feelings for Jordan when she returned from Casa Amor with Ovie. The pair are now back together with Anna coupling up with the model at the latest recoupling.
Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor
After new girl Francesca was given first choice and chose to couple up with Curtis, Maura was left fuming. The Irish beauty decided to give newbie Chris a chance, in turn sending Marvin home.
However, Curtis has now decided he wants to pursue things with Maura!
Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
These two just keep getting stronger and stronger! Both Tommy and Molly-Mae stayed loyal, leaving the rest of the Islanders in tears during the recoupling.
They are now official boyfriend and girlfriend, and they've even dropped the 'L' bomb.
Amy Hart and Curtis Pritchard
Despite the nation thinking Curtis was going to dump Amy, the dancer decided to recouple with Amy, but it wasn't without any drama! Telling her 'we need to talk'.
After getting her heart broken, Amy made the tough decision to QUIT the villa so Curtis was able to find happiness.
Due to this, Curtis is now single.
Joanna Chimonides and Michael Griffiths
In one of the biggest shocks of the series so far, Michael's head turned when Joanna entered the villa, making him DUMP Amber and couple up with the new girl.
Amber Gill
Amber returned to the villa on her own, staying loyal to Michael. However, as Michael chose to recouple with new girl Joanna, Amber has now been left single.
Maura Higgins and Marvin Brooks
Despite getting on well with new boy Dennon, Irish beauty Maura chose to couple up with Marvin.
However, things didn't last long! Maura decided it just wasn't going to happen with Marvin, and dumped him in a brutal double dumping alongside her BFF Lucie Donlan.
Ovie Soko and Anna Vakili
Anna was quick to forget about Jordan when Ovie walked into Casa Amor! The pharmacist decided to couple up with the new boy, leaving poor Jordan on his own.
HOWEVER, in a big twist, Anna realised she actually likes Jordan more, and she's now sleeping outside with him on the day beds.
Despite this, Ovie and Anna are still technically coupled up.
Jordan Hames
After deciding to stay loyal towards Anna, Jordan is now single due tot the fact she returned to the main villa coupled up with basketball player Ovie.
Of course, we suspect he'll be back with Anna at the next recoupling!
Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan
Finally! Anton has a romantic relationship in the Love Island villa! New girl Belle certainly made an impact, with Anton giving a lovely little speech during the recoupling.
Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
Rewind back a week or two and it looked like things could be over for Tommy and Molly-Mae, but after Tommy chose Molly-Mae over Maura in the last recoupling, the pair have seemed stronger than ever and have remained coupled up. Giving one of the nicest speeches ever, Tommy told Molly-Mae she's the 'girl of his dreams'.
Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart
They had a little hiccup earlier in the week when Curtis scored Arabella's kiss a 10/10, but nothing was going to stop these two coupling up again! After THAT dance, we just hope Curtis asks Amy to be his proper girlfriend sometime soon.
Amber Gill and Michael Griffiths
They had a slow start, but Amber and Michael are now one of the favourites to win this year's show. During the recoupling, Michael was quick to gush about the Geordie girl, calling her 'unbelievably beautiful'.
Jordan Hames and Anna Vakili
Following Sherif's shock exit from the villa, we were all left worried for Anna's Love Island fate. That was until new boy Jordan arrived and swept the pharmacist off her feet.
Anton Danyluk and Lucie Donlan
Many thought it would be Lucie sent packing, but due to the fact he's still single, Anton chose the surfer to couple up with in a friendship, ensuring they both stayed in the Love Island villa.
Tom Walker and Maura Higgins
Although many thought he'd ruined things by making THAT comment before their date in The Hideaway, Tom chose Irish beauty Maura to couple up with, dishing out all of the compliments in the process.
However - after Thursday night's shock dumping, Tom was sent packing and now Maura is single.
Arabella Chi and Danny Williams
Despite telling poor old Yewande he wouldn't be interested in getting to know anybody else, model Arabella certainly turned Danny's head. Despite Yewande's efforts in being more affectionate, Danny decided to couple up with Arabella, in turn sending Yewande home.
However - after Thursday night's shock dumping, Arabella was sent packing and now Danny is single.
Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart
Despite Amy having a little wobble last week, her relationship with Curtis looks solid, with the ballroom dancer once again choosing to couple up with her.
Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
Despite having his head turned 560 degrees by bombshell Maura, Tommy Fury followed his gut and chose to couple up with Molly-Mae.
Michael Griffiths and Amber Gill
After Michael and Amber FINALLY told each other how they feel, the pair keep getting stronger and stronger, with Michael choosing to couple up with the Geordie girl.
Danny Williams and Yewande Biala
After sharing their first kiss, Danny and Yewande look VERY strong in the villa, with the pair officially coupling up.
Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt
It looked like things could be over for Joe and Lucie when Joe started to have doubts over Lucie's friendship with the other boys.
Despite this, Joe chose Lucie in the recoupling, keeping the pair together.
In one of the most dramatic Love Island moments EVER, Lucie and Joe were voted one of the villa's 'least compatible' couples in week three; with the public choosing to DUMP Joe from the island. Jucie is no more, folks.
Anton Danyluk and Elma Pazar
When Essex girl Elma Pazar entered the villa, she was impressed with 'gentleman' Anton. Despite Anton telling Anna he'd chose her to keep her safe, Anton went with his heart of coupled up with Elma.
HOWEVER, things didn't last long, as Elma got DUMPED from the villa just days after the recoupling.
Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart
It was the most obvious coupling of the night, but fans were overjoyed when Amy chose to couple up with dancer Curtis.
Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt
Despite having her head turned when Tommy Fury entered the villa, surfer Lucie decided to stay true to her heart and chose to couple up with Joe Garratt.
Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague
After he was pied by Lucie, bombshell arrival Molly-Mae made Tommy's day by choosing to couple up with the boxer.
Anton Danyluk and Amber Gill
After things were made clear that Amber had ZERO interest in Callum Macleod, the Geordie girl chose to couple up with her friend Anton Danyluk, sending Callum packing.
Anna Vakili and Sherif Lanre
Sticking to her original decision, pharmacist Anna Vakili once again chose to couple up with Sherif Lanre... we can see something blossoming between these two!
Yewande Biala and Michael Griffiths
Following their kiss in the challenge, Yewande chose to remain coupled up with fireman Michael, but it looks like these two are just friends, with Michael now setting his sights on Amber.
Tommy Fury and Lucie Donlan
When Tommy arrived as a bombshell with Curtis, he immediately set his sights on Lucie, who was coupled up with Joe in the first episode. He said in the Beach Hut, "At the moment the girl I want to pursue is going to be Lucie. She's a surfer, she goes to the gym. Her body is banging. She has beautiful eyes, a beautiful face, beautiful everything."
Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart
Curtis chose to couple up with Amy, who had previously been coupled up with Anton. She told the Beach Hut, "I don't feel like I have to force anything with Curtis because it's all so easy so I'm hoping that he picks me. But he was just talking to Yewande again. So, I don't know."
Joe Garratt and Anton Danyluk
This meant that poor Joe and Anton were left on their own. Hearts across the country broke for Joe when Lucie chose to be with Tommy - his little face dropped!
Amber Gill and Callum Macleod
Amber and Callum stayed together after the bombshells arrived, although Amber admitted in the Beach Hut that she was also attracted to Tommy and Joe. Eek!
Anna Vakili and Sherif Lanre
Anna and Sherif chose to stay together, and even shared a bed! Sherif told the Beach Hut, "Last night was nice. I feel like me and Anna are on the same page. We're going at the same pace. She's a lovely girl all round. So, I'm chuffed. I'm really happy with the choice I made. The subs-bench worked out for me!"
However, Anna later said, "Sherif's like my human hot water bottle. It was nice. He's really good at the snuggles." Nice, but not hugely romantic...
Yewande Biala and Michael Griffiths
Yewande and Michael stayed together, even though her head had been turned by Curtis. She told the Beach Hut, "I think I do fancy him. He has amazing eyes and he is really nice."
Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt
Lucie had previously described her ideal man as, "Blonde! Longish hair… just hair, a lot of hair. Like me!" It then came as no surprise that she ditched former partner Michael Griffiths for wispy haired Joe.
Amy Hart and Anton Danyluk
Amy and Anton seemed to hit it off straight away, with Anton clinging onto the former air hostess throughout out the whole coupling up process. After admitting his own mum shaves him bum, he was soon suggesting that Amy would shortly be doing the same.
The adoration seemed short lived, however, with Anton shortly wiggling his way into Lucie and Joe's blossoming romance.
Amber Gill and Callum Macleod
Despite looking quite happy together when they coupled up, things aren't looking great for our next couple, Amber and Callum. After ditching fellow islander Sherif Lanre for Callum, Amber went onto brand her new beau as being, and looking, "old". Ouch.
Anna Vakili and Sherif Lanre
After Amber dropped Sherif for Callum, he was quickly coupled up with other remaining singleton Anna Vakili. But it seems this may have been a match made in heaven, with Sherif shortly after admitting to the brunette babe that he already follows her on Instagram!
Yewande Biala and Michael Griffiths
So after poor Michael was dropped by Lucie, he was soon paired up with the lovely scientist Yewande. Later chilling by the pool, the two soon conjured up some chemical reactions of their own when Michael revealed he has a degree in bio-medical science. After revealing, "I'm a scientist. A biologist. I studied a bio-technology degree", Michael responded, "That's quite interesting because I did bio medical science at uni." Ooo!
