The cute scene was filmed more than once

Love Island fans have been loving this year's series - there has been a LOT of drama to keep up with. But even they might admit that Love Island has felt a little too staged at some points along the way this year.

First, there was the debacle of the Georgia Steel/Jack Fowler ‘kiss’ – which was seemingly filmed more than once - then it transpired that most of Samira Mighty and Frankie Foster’s relationship had been cut from the show (they even had a night in The Hideaway viewers knew absolutely nothing about).

Fans of the show had been outraged over the apparent editing out of the couple, but were over the moon when a romantic video emerged (and later aired on Love Island: Aftersun) of the two of them reuniting at the airport, after Samira had romantically quit the show to fly home and be with Frankie.

However, it now appears that the couple's big romantic reunion at Gatwick Airport was a farce.

In the clip, Samira spots Frankie as she strolls through arrivals and then leaps into his loving arms.

But the West End performer has now hinted that maybe the reunion wasn't quite so candid as it was first thought. While chatting to Caroline Flack about Frankie’s gesture, Samira admits she "almost walked straight passed him."

"I literally died," Samira explained. "I walked past him a little bit. I was like who's that fit guy who's holding up my name."

Adding fuel to the fire, an onlooker apparently saw the whole thing and branded it "fake and staged" according to Metro.co.uk. Whilst they admitted that it was obvious "they were into each other" and they "seemed really happy," the witness said it was a "shame they had to film it twice."

Although the reunion may have been fake, it seems Frankie and Samira’s connection is 100% real. Frankie asked Samira to be his girlfriend while the couple spoke about their romance on Aftersun.

Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
