Kieron Richardson shares emotional message as he temporarily leaves Hollyoaks
He's been on the soap for 14 years!
He's been on the soap since 2006, portraying some massive storylines as his character Ste Hay, so it's no surprise actor Kieron Richardson was feeling very emotional when his final scene aired on Hollyoaks last night (Tuesday 19th November).
Whilst Kieron is due to return to the Channel 4 soap at some point in 2020, the actor is taking some time off to star in a play called Band Of Gold, following on from a massive 14 years in Hollyoaks.
After his far right storyline finally came to an end last night, Ste left in a taxi to Newcastle and was quick to take to his Instagram page after the scene aired.
Kieron wrote, 'Chapter one done...its goodbye to my old mate ste for a while....I have loved wearing your comfy tracksuits and trying out my dodgy hairstyles, I love the character so much and he is a lesson on how not to live my life, but playing him has brought everything I am grateful for to my life....I'm so proud of how the far right story was handled and received and its topped off a great first chapter of the story. We have the best audience.

Fans were quick to show their support to the actor, one fan of the soap wrote, 'Ahhh so so sad to hear you are going. Genuinely been willing for a happy ending for Ste, you have played him fantastically. X'. sic
Another then added, 'I'm gonna miss Ste so so much', with a third writing, 'I swear you better be back!!! Amazing actor (don’t know where you find so many tears!)👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽'. sic
Kieron, who has twins with his husband Carl Hyland, later recorded an emotional video for Hollyoaks fans, revealing he's 100% coming back to the soap in 2020.
He said, "Hello, it's just me! I've just come to say goodbye... Because Ste has left in a taxi! I never thought i'd say these words, but they are temporary words because I was here for the 10th birthday and i'm going to be here for the 25th birthday, by hook or by crook!"
Kieron has enjoyed a number of a major storylines during his stint on the soap, including a baby kidnapping plot, HIV, a gay relationship, domestic abuse, drug dealing and most recent, far right radicalisation.

The weeks begins with Goldie asking Sylver to visit Mercedes at the hospital but he decides against it and choses to hang out with Grace instead.
While Goldie is sitting at Mercy's bedside, Sylver and Grace enjoy their first sleepover. Later when Mercedes has a seizure Goldie rings Sylver but Grace rejects the call…
Grace continues to decline all of Goldie's calls to Sylver's phone but he walks in and catches her deleting a voicemail. Sylver then reassures Grace that he doesn't have feelings for his estranged wife anymore.
When Grace enters the flat living room wearing just her dressing room and Sylver's tool belt, Breda is disgusted. She's worried that Sylver is making himself look guilty so gives him an ultimatum – chose between Grace and the McQueen family.
When Goldie and Joel arrive at The Dog to pick up some stuff for Mercedes they're stunned when the discover Sylver has been sleeping with Grace.
Ollie Morgan is still at a loss over what to do with his unborn child and desperately asks Mandy Richardson and Darren Osborne what he should do about the little one.
Maxine Minniver returns to the village from America but when she spots Damon she's put out at Liberty Savage flirting with him. She jumps to the conclusion that they're dating.
Brody, Scott and Damon are shocked when Liberty kisses the latter in the pub. When Maxine and Damon come face to face, she apologises by giving him a letter with a full explanation.
Cindy feels rejected when Luke rushes of without telling her where he's going so she decides to have a snoop on his laptop.
Joel Dexter spots what she's doing and takes the laptop but tells her he'll give it back if she helps out at the soup kitchen.
Cindy clashes with Goldie when she insults her engagement ring and after the women begin to fight the laptop ends up in the river… Cindy becomes even more suspicious of Luke when she spots him talking to Misbah Maalik outside the hospital.
Sid Sumners arrives at school and opens up to Juliet Quinn – admitting he's been sleeping rough. Juliet tells Sienna and she decides to help her pupil out.
Sienna meets Stuart's wife Alice who admits she doesn't think she's strong enough to be a parent to Sid. Luckily Sienna manages to take her round.
Brody Hudson and Liberty Savage make a worrying discovery about Sid, just as Sienna returns to the flat with his mum Alice. Sienna and Sid later bond over the people they've lost.
Mitchell and Scott are awkward together when they're in front of other people. Scott decides to take their relationship to the next step by asking Mitchell to move in together.
Scott manages to persuade his boyfriend to move in with him but when Martine Deveraux arrives, Mitchell hides Scott in the bedroom.
While Scott tells Damon he's buzzing about moving in with his new boyfriend, Mitchell tells Martine he's reluctant to go public with his new 'girlfriend'.
Martine suggest that Mitchell move back in with her… Later, Scott is confused when a new couple have a look around Mitchell's flat. Mitchell lies and says he can no longer afford the rent but Scott suggests they fight for their home.
Kieron is set to return to play his character Ste Hay in 2020.
