Hollyoaks spoilers: James Nightingale discovers Maxine Minniver's secret
What will it mean for Damon Kinsella's trial?
Last updated 18th Sep 2019
Over the past few months, the residents of Hollyoaks believe Maxine Minniver has been suffering from a terminal illness.
Even This Morning's Alison Hammond popped down to the village to visit her – however they're all unaware that she actually has Munchausen's syndrome and doesn't have a terminal illness.
Her husband Damon Kinsella was jailed for fraud – after he borrowed some of the money from her medical fund for their wedding day – and his entire case lies completely on Maxine's "terminal illness".
Next week his lawyer James discovers her shocking secrets – will he still be able to defend Damon? Or will he come clean?
Elsewhere Liberty Savage has some good news for Sienna Blake, there's trouble in paradise for Mitchell Deveraux and Scott Drinkwell and Joel Dexter and Goldie McQueen infuriates Breda McQueen.
Hollyoaks spoilers: Monday 23 – Friday 27 September 2019
The week begins with Maxine telling her husband that she's only got a few weeks left to live. She tries to get James to waive his legal fees but he refuses.
Damon goes to extreme lengths instead and sells his half of The Loveboat. When Sienna Blake discovers what he's done she's furious at Maxine and tells her she'll no longer help her with her lies.
Maxine then panics when James tells her he needs to see her medical records. The next day after trying to track her records down, James tell Damon and Maxine that he can't get hold of Levi Rochester.
James then tries to get in contact with Misbah Maalik but when he reaches a dead end he begins to grow suspicious of Maxine…
When James realises that Maxine's medical records is in Mitchell's bag he gatecrashes his drinks with Scott at The Dog.
Elsewhere Damon arranges a meal at The Hutch for his wife but she's later confronted by James who questions her about faking her illness this entire time.
At the end of the week a furious Sienna has had enough of Maxine's lies and slaps her. She then tells her it's time she finally faces up to what she's done.
It's not all doom and gloom for Sienna though because despite her bad news Liberty tries to cheer her up by taking a pregnancy test. Later on in the week, Liberty receives some incredible news.
Marnie Nightingale has been desperate to help James move on from Harry Thompson and next week she has a surprise date for him lined up.
Marnie manages to pretend that he's the son of one of her friends but later James susses her out and scares his date away. Although he later has a change of heart and decides to give the dating app another go.
Cleo McQueen and Mitchell have the house to themselves but she decides to invite Scott over too. After the boys decide to go for a drink together and it results in Scott become Anita.
Following a dramatic turn of events, Scott tells Mitchell that they're more than friends but he's having none of it and tells him he doesn't want him in his life anymore.
Martine Deveraux wants to know what's wrong with Mitchell and after the pair open up she encourages him to do what makes him happy.
Cleo tries to cheer him up by making him watch Anita's shown. He then rushes out of The Dog and when Anita asks him what he wants he ends up snogging her.
Joel and Goldie have the house to themselves but he's waiting on a life changing phone call. He then opens up to her and tells Goldie that he's planning on joining the Church of England.
Joel wants to become a vicar instead but when serial killer Breda discovers his plans she's furious… will his decision push her too far?
He later speaks to Goldie and tells her that his faith will take a long time to sort out – unfortunately she takes it the wrong way.
Goldie and Joel want Breda to be happy for them. Goldie later opens up to her cousin Cleo and reveals Joel's plans so they can publicly be together.
Later on Breda visits a terrified Tony Hutchinson (who everyone thought was dead) and tells him she's being tested with people who are getting in the way of her mission.
Before any of the above happens, here's what you can expect in Hollyoaks this week…
