Love Island viewers tuned into last night's (Tuesday 11th June) episode eagerly awaiting the show to make reference to Sherif Lanre's removal, following yesterday's news that he'd 'broken the rules'.

But, after Sherif was mainly edited out of the episode, some viewers were shocked to spot him appear in one scene, alongside love interest Anna Vakili. Sherif was filmed stood behind Anna as Tommy Fury received a text, seemingly looking very happy at the time.

Of course, as most fans know, the show is filmed a day in advance, therefore at this point, Sherif would still be in the villa.

It comes after the shock news yesterday (Tuesday 11h June), that the 20-year-old had been removed from the villa for breaking the rules.

A Love Island spokesperson said, “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Sherif also issued a statement and said, “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."

Despite fans tuning in to find out the REAL reason for Sherif's removal, viewers were left disappointed when show voice-over Iain Stirling said, "Earlier today, after a conversation with producers, Sherif left the villa."

Now, as the nation is left wondering what happened, Sherif's mum has spoken about the matter, admitting she has no clue either.

Speaking to Mail Online, Diana said, "I don't know the real reason yet, but I'm determined to get to the bottom of it.

"I don't know if he has actually done anything wrong yet. I need to look at his Love Island code of conduct and I need to speak to him properly to find out what really happened."

Diana then added, "But I'm his mum, I'm going to think it was a bit unfair. I think so. I'm going to defend my son."
