Fans heartbroken over shock Hollyoaks death twist

Despite being a pre-watershed soap, Hollyoaks love to give their characters shock death scenes, and Tuesday night's was no exception.

The Nightingale's arrived in Hollyoaks towards the end of 2015, taking over the pub from the Osbournes. Since then we've found out Alfie is Cindy's son, seen Nathan's fiancé Rachel killed in a car explosion, watched as mum Marnie slept with her daughter's boyfriend Freddie, had our heart strings tugged as Alfie lost his girlfriend Jade to cancer after surviving his own battle and most recently watched as dad Mac slept with his son Nathan's girlfriend Lisa.
What a traumatic 15 months!
Fans of the Channel 4 soap didn't realise they were about to see the family suffer more as one of the family members plunged to their death.

Fans were hoping for a romantic Valentine's Day episode as Cleo McQueen was on the way to tell Nathan how she felt. However they were left traumatised as instead of confessing her love, she witnessed him plunge to his death. As if that wasn't bad enough, he'd only fallen after catching his fiancé Lisa in bed with his dad and getting into a fight!
Fans took to Twitter to express their shock.
Nathan, played by Jared Garfield, posted a goodbye message to fans and then thanked all the team at Hollyoaks for his time on the show.
He also thanked fans for their support during his time on the show.
The aftermath of Nathan's tragic death is set to continue throughout the week on Hollyoaks.
