EastEnders star Charlie Brooks, who played the infamous Janine Butcher, has spoken out about a possible return to Walford and admitted she could make a comeback in the future.

During her time in Albert Square, Janine pushed Barry Evans off the cliff, she was wrongly charged with the murder of Laura Beale, she poisoned her husband Ryan Malloy and then she killed Michael Moon but blamed it all on Alice Branning.

The last fans saw of the villain was in 2014 shortly after she was found not guilty for killing Michael, she left for Paris to join her daughter Scarlett and her sister Diane.

Now, the 37-year-old actress has said she wouldn't rule out returning to the square as Janine. In an interview with Woman magazine, she explained: "I look back on my time in EastEnders really fondly. I had a great time.

"I was very fortunate with the character, and got so many wonderful and different storylines, so it was really fun to play."

She then added: "I still speak to some of the cast and I’d never say never to returning. I’ve no idea where Janine’s been or what she’s been up to."

This isn't the first time the actress has hinted she'd be up for returning to the BBC show, as she told The Express back in March this year that she'd be up for it "in the future."

She told the publication, "There's a lot of people going back at the moment. It's definitely something I would think about in the future.

"Who knows what the future will bring? I really don't know."
