EastEnders fans left in shock over heartbreaking death scene

EastEnders fans were left in shock during last night's episode when a huge twist saw character Sylvie Carter lose her life.

Many viewers of the soap were expecting somebody to die after Michelle Fowler's crash into the chip shop, but they didn't expect what happened next.

Sylvie, who is played by actress Linda Marlowe, has been suffering with dementia and was ready to go into care. However in order to give her one final night to enjoy, Tina took her to the Queen Vic.

With the Carter family left to console Whitney after the crash, Sylvie was left alone upstairs in the Queen Vic.

Sylvie later woke up and proceeded to run herself a bath, but things took a dramatic turn, when the CD player she’d taken into the bathroom fell into the water and electrocuted her to death.

Viewers of the show were quick to express their shock at the scene and praised actress Linda for her 'phenomenal' portrayal of dementia.

After the heartbreaking scene aired, Linda thanked fans for their praise and retweeted their messages of support towards her.

The aftermath of Sylvie's shock death is expected to play out in EastEnders in the coming weeks.
