EastEnders fans were left absolutely devastated after the 35th anniversary episode. Of course, we'd all been forewarned that it would be a sad ending to the dramatic events on the boat, but no-one expected that a child would be killed off.

So when young Denny Rickman, played by 14-year-old Bleu Landau, was discovered to have been drowned in the boat crash, viewers of the show couldn't believe it.

However, whilst it's been a huge shock to fans of the show, viewers have now realised that the show's writer's dropped a bit of a hint about his demise in the previous episode shown one day before his death - courtesy of Stuart Highway.

Stuart came onto the boat dressed as Captain Hook - the villain from the story of Peter Pan, who is also known as the boy who would never grow up, with Stuart telling the party-goers, "You haven’t seen that pesky boy dressed in green have you? Claims to never get old?"

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Denny was wearing a big green coat - making him the boy who would never grow up.

Ricky Champ, who plays Stuart, spotted that fans had tweeted about the connection, and replied to one, confirming that it had been a clue after all.

Long-time fans of the show will recognise the tragic irony over Denny's death. His mum Sharon lost her dad, Dirty Den, and her partner, Dennis Rickman - the father of Denny, who is named after both his dad and his grandad.

However - we all know that Dirty Den rose from the grave and returned from the dead, so perhaps young Denny will do the same. Although it seems unlikely at this point...
