Dancing On Ice bosses had hoped for a smoother show in 2022, following the chaos that struck last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which led to a number of celebrities having to quit the show.

However, with just one show in the bag, it looks like 2022 is following a similar format, as Happy Mondays star Bez has confirmed he's tested positive for COVID-19.

Bez, who performed on Sunday night with his skating partner Angela Egan, has told the Daily Star: "I've had a positive test. I'm gutted because I'm going to be missing training but I'm looking forward to skating on the show again for Week Three and I'll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend."

Luckily for bosses, Bez wasn't actually due to perform during the show this coming Sunday (23rd January), after this year's celebrities were split into two groups.

Bez however did perform during Sunday night's launch show, skating to 'Step On' by Happy Mondays.

Unfortunately for Bez and Angela, the judges only scored the pair a total of 12.5, meaning they were bottom of the leaderboard behind the likes of Brendan Cole, Kimberly Wyatt, Ria Hebden, Kye Whyte and Sally Dynevor.

However, Bez escaped the skate-off, with entertainment presenter Ria Hebden and her skating partner Łukasz Różycki finding themselves in the bottom two.

Following Bez's recent COVID-19 test, Dancing On Ice bosses told The Mirror: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines."

With the chaos last year, bosses will be hoping no other contestants, judges, professionals or hosts contract the virus.

Dancing On Ice continues every Sunday night on ITV.
