Coronation Street is returning to SIX episodes per week 🙌
The show is currently airing just three episodes per week
Just like Emmerdale, bosses over at Coronation Street have today announced the soap will be returning to six episodes per week from Monday 14th September!
As the popular soap looks set to up the drama as they prepare for Coronation Street's 60th anniversary on the 9th December, bosses have announced a series of 'explosive' story lines in the coming months.
Producer Iain MacLeod said, “The amount of work that has gone into keeping Coronation Street on the air, and getting it back to six episodes a week, has been staggering. I am so proud of the tireless efforts of everyone behind the scenes and onscreen. We have been energised and motivated by the nearly 60 years of heritage behind the show, and the massively important place it still holds in the Nation’s hearts.
"Throughout lockdown and beyond, the regular installments of Britain’s best-loved soap have taken on even greater significance, giving viewers a beacon of familiarity and normality amid the craziest of times. It is often said that our characters are like members of the viewers’ extended families. And at a time when many people couldn’t see their loved ones in real life, their fictional friends on the cobbles became even more essential, as the audience escaped in half-hour bursts into the wonderful world of Weatherfield.”

Determined to prove to Tim his dad's a wrong 'un, Sally lets herself into number six under the guise of picking up some books for Yasmeen.
But soon Geoff arrives home without warning. Sally gives Geoff her false story and leaves quickly - with Geoff's laptop stowed in her bag.
Back at number four, Sally and Faye manage to re-install the deleted CCTV app and access all of Geoff's secret footage from his home security system.
They're horrified by the extent of his abuse but Tim is finally convinced of his dad's guilt. Tim apologises to Alya for not believing her in the first place.
None the wiser to their sleuthing, back at number six Geoff is caught off guard when two police officers call over at the house.
Saying that new evidence has come to light and they need to bring him in for more questioning, Geoff is panicked as he realises the jig may be up.
Elsewhere, Dev is running out of options and sets the wheels in motion for selling up the kebab shop to scrape together the money for Asha's school fees.
While Bernie and Cathy are worried to realise they may be out of a job, Mary is concerned for her friend and Chesney tells Dev he relies on him to feed his family.
Later on, when the estate agent arrives to take a look around the premises, Asha and Aadi exchange worried looks, realising their dad is serious about selling up.
After a difficult day with the agents, Dev arrives home and is livid to find Asha hanging out with Corey, the boy that shared the pictures.
Furious that Asha is still seeing him despite Dev paying for her to move schools because of him, Dev bans Asha from seeing Corey again.
But Asha decides to go behind her dad's back and invites Corey 'round while Dev is out, not counting on her brother being in on the deal too.
Aadi arrives home to find Asha and Corey chilling. Torn about his loyalties, Aadi leaves a message on Dev's phone telling him Corey is over.
Meanwhile, Nick, Leanne and Steve's staycation prep is interrupted when Oliver's seizure alarm goes off and they rush him to A&E.
At the hospital, it's not good news as the doctor tells Leanne and Steve that Oliver has been taken to intensive care and is on life support.
Though Leanne is confident that Oliver will recover, Steve and Nick don't share in her optimism.
Outside in the car park, Nick is surprised when he bumps into his ex-girlfriend, Natasha, who had been pregnant by him when they split in 2010.
Natasha explains she's at the hospital for a dermatology appointment and Nick says he's there with his sick stepson. Is there still chemistry between them?
David is concerned that Shona will never get back to normal but when he hears from Nina she's planning on leaving because she thinks he hates her, David is shocked.
Vowing to prove he doesn't hate her, David arranges a barbecue and invites Sarah, Nina, Sally and Lilly along for a nice afternoon.
But while they're preparing food there's an almighty crash and they run outside to find a giant hole has opened up in the lawn.
Colin the water company engineer arrives and diagnoses a sink hole, telling David he'll have to find somewhere else to live as it's not safe at the house.
David is flabbergasted and wonders where he'll be able to stay. When Rick offers to put him up at one of his hotels, Shona is excited.
