Coronation Street announce a fan-favourite character is returning

Fans of Coronation Street are going to be over the moon, as the hit ITV soap has just announced a fan-favourite character is returning - and she'll be back on our screens sooner than you think.
The soap took to Twitter to confirm Eileen Derbyshire, who plays Emily Bishop, has returned for a very special celebration... Ken Barlow's birthday of course!
Posting a shot of the cast filming the latest scenes, they wrote, 'This week we're filming Ken's 80th Birthday party and look who surprises him with a special video message - it's Emily! See it all on screen in October'.
So whilst she's not actually returning to the cobbles, instead taking the new, modern approach of Skyping in, fans are still ecstatic with Emily's return, with many replying back to the tweet.
One user wrote, 'So wonderful to see Emily again, and to see Eileen Derbyshire again. What a true treat this is', whilst another said, 'Aww this is adorable i miss Emily she's a legend xxx'. sic
A third added, 'Wish Emily & Norris were still on the Street! Miss them so much. I hate getting older and missing all my favourites on Corrie!'

Later that day, when Gemma arrives home desperate for the loo, a scheming Bernie hands her a bucket, lying that the toilet is broken. When the plumber arrives and says there's nothing wrong with the toilet, Bernie admits she's harvesting Gemma's pee – to sell positive pregnancy tests on eBay!
After Emma's devastating news last week, she travels to the hospital with Maria where the doctors tell her her dads cancer is terminal. As Emma takes a call from her mum in Australia, Audrey shows up and takes over from Maria.
A tearful Emma gets off the phone and says her mum's just told her that her dad isn't her real dad. When her mum rings back, Emma ignores the call, but Audrey is shocked see a picture of Fiona Middleton flash up on her screen.
Back at the Rovers, Audrey tells Liz what she found out at the hospital. As they do the maths, it dawns on them that Steve could be Emma's dad. Later on, Audrey is peeved when she finds out that
A downcast Emma tells Audrey that she doesn't want to track down her real dad and spoil the memory of who she thought was her father. At the café Emma shares with Steve that her mum is a woman called Fiona who used to live in Weatherfield.
Tracy and Amy are due back from their holiday, but as they wait to be collected from the airport by a late-running Steve, Tracy checks the family account and is shocked to find that £600 has been withdrawn.
Meanwhile, on his way to pick up Tracy and Amy, Steve spots Emma crying at the bus stop and pulls over. When she sobs that she can't even afford a nice coffin for her dad, Steve secretly slips the undertaker the extra money to pay for it.
Robert takes Vicky shopping in order to stay in her good books, but when they arrive back at her house they're in for a rude awakening as Jed and Tyler arrive home.
Jed is less than pleased to find Robert at Vicky's house, and tensions quickly rise between them. As Vicky attempts to calm them both down, things escalate and Jed punches Robert.
As Jed leaves, Vicky tends to an injured Robert and tells him that if he can offer her something more than Jed can, she'll consider staying in Weatherfield.
Later on at the Bistro, Michelle asks Robert if he can get her engagement ring resized for her. A distracted Robert agrees, but makes a hasty exit as he tells her he's needed at a youth offending facility over the weekend.
Tyler calls Robert and tells him that he and his mum are leaving for good. Panicked, Robert heads straight round to see Vicky, who is fuming and tells him she's had enough of being his bit on the side. As he goes to leave, she spots something that changes her mind.
Soon Robert finds himself in an even stickier situation when he realises that both Vicky and Michelle think he wants to marry them. Confused, he agrees to stay the night at Vicky's.
Jo is pressuring Carla to accept her job offer, but Carla tells Peter that she's turned it down. At the pub, Carla admits that she wants Peter, her boyfriend, back, and not Peter, her carer.
Nick wants to accept the offer from Gary and Derek, but Sarah is still suspicious of his motives, especially when Adam tells Sarah that Derek has been involved in dodgy business schemes before.
With Nick agreeing to the £10k from Derek, and the £100k it will cost to rebuild the factory, Gary offers Seb a job back on the site as a labourer.
Sarah confronts Gary about Derek's dodgy dealings but Gary threatens to pull the plug on the whole deal. When the workers tell Sarah she's putting their jobs at risk again, Sarah swallows her intuition and agrees to Nick's deal.
An exhausted Dev returns from India with Asha, who's been a nightmare on the trip. When Mary tells Dev about what Evelyn has been up to, Dev is furious and falls out with Evelyn.
Meanwhile, Mary is determined to get to the bottom of Asha's bad mood but Asha's giving nothing away. Arriving home that evening, Asha curtly tells Dev that her day has been fine.
But as she makes her way upstairs her bag falls to the floor and the contents spill out. Dev bends to help her and Asha quickly slips a bottle of skin lightening cream out of sight, hoping that Dev hasn't seen it.
At the Bistro, as Kate gushes about her plans to travel and Daniel swoons over baby Bertie, Bethany's heart sinks when she thinks she's got nothing exciting going on her life.
Geoff is annoyed when Yasmeen has a lunch date with Cathy. He lies and tells her that he's received a letter from the insurance company and the money will be in his account within a few days.
Yasmeen is attending Ken's Bridge night at the pub and has agreed to partner up with Brian. But Geoff is unhappy about the set up, and pretends that he's a Bridge pro so that Yasmeen agrees to partner with him instead.
Chesney and Gemma are furious when a hefty parking fine arrives for Bernie, but she promises to pay back the money herself.

But it's sad news for her fans as there's no plans of a permanent return for the character.
Speaking to Metro, the show's producer Iain MacLeod recently said that discussions were always ongoing in regards to Emily returning, but it's not happening any time soon.
The actress left the soap last year, after Emily was waved off the cobbles and headed to Peru to go travelling, but of course is regularly mentioned in the show!
