Britain's Got Talent winner Tokio Myers reveals heartwarming way he'll spend winnings

Viewers of Britain's Got Talent witnessed pianist Tokio Myers see off tough competition from the likes of Issy Simpson and DNA during Saturday night's final and now he's revealed how he hopes to spend his prize winnings.

As well as landing a spot on the prestigious Royal Variety Show later in the year, Tokio has bagged himself £250,000 for winning the popular talent show.

Now speaking to a national newspaper, the 32-year-old has revealed his would love to use the money to set up his own music school and inspire the young generation.

He said, "I would love to be able to set up my own music school one day to mentor and inspire other people. If I get a real shot at being successful I would love to do talks at school.

“I want to push the boundaries and break stereotypes about classical music.”

He then added, “We live in a time when you can no longer judge a book by its cover. It’s OK to be different and I want to be at the forefront of that. I want to inspire people.”

Ahead of Saturday night's final it was revealed Tokio witnessed the last moments of his old head teacher Mr Morgan, after he'd been fatally stabbed in the school.

Opening up about the tragic event, Tokio admitted his teacher tried to protect him during the attack and said, "Ever since that day I feel like me and him have some kind of bond, not just through music but just that moment.”

Tokio was crowned the 11th winner of Britain's Got Talent after he blew audiences away with his impressive piano performance of Rag'n'Bone Man's track 'Human'.

Tokio won over the public vote from eight-year-old magician Issy Simpson and comedian Daliso Chaponda, who finished third on the show.

Favourites DNA ended up coming last in the final after messing up their routine live on stage. Mind readers Darren and Andrew made the blunder when they guessed the wrong number that judge David had thought of, leading them to cross out their guess and correct it with the correct number.
