Sam Smith’s incredible debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ has made chart history!

The record has been in the top 10 since it stormed in at number one in May 2014 – the longest unbroken run for a debut album since charts began!

Its phenomenal tally of 67 consecutive top 10 weeks overtakes Emeli Sande’s ‘Our Version of Events’, which managed 66 weeks between February 2012 and May 2013.

The Beatles previously held the record for almost half a century after their debut ‘Please Please Me’ racked up 62 weeks on the bounce.

Commenting on his chart record, Sam said: "What can I even say to this? I am completely and utterly moved and overwhelmed at this achievement.

"I am forever thankful to my team but most importantly to the British public for making this happen and buying my album.

"This moment is one to tell the grandkids and maybe their grandkids."

‘In The Lonely Hour’ has now sold over 1.75million copies in the UK and 2million in the United States.

The album spawned the colossal hits ‘Lay Me Down’, ‘Money On My Mind’, ‘Stay With Me’, ‘I’m Not The Only One’ and ‘Like I Can’.
