Miley Cyrus' Homeless MTV VMAs Date Turns Himself In To Police
A warrant had been out for Jesse Helt's arrest
Miley Cyrus’ homeless date at the MTV Video Music Awards has handed himself in to police in Oregon.
At Sunday night’s ceremony at The Forum in California, Jesse Helt stepped up to accept Miley’s Video of the Year gong for ‘Wrecking Ball’ to highlight the plight of homeless youths in America.
After the event it emerged that a warrant was out for his arrest in Oregon for probation violation.
Court records showed that in 2011 Jesse was sentenced to 30 days in jail plus probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanour criminal mischief and criminal trespass.
The Polk County Community Corrections Director announced yesterday that 22-year-old Jesse had handed himself in and posted the $2,500 bail for the probation violation. He is due to appear in court in the coming weeks.
The media’s unearthing of Jesse’s past, prompted Miley to launch a tirade against the press on Twitter. She wrote:
During his acceptance speech for Miley, Jesse said he was accepting it "on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the US who are starving, lost and scared for their lives".
A tearful Miley then embraced Jesse and later posted a series of photos of them partying together on Instagram.
