Leaked demo shows how The Chainsmokers' 'Closer' could have been very different

The Chainsmokers hit the top spot around the world with their song 'Closer' featuring Halsey, but it could have been very different.

A short video uploaded to Twitter recently appears to show a snippet of their hit 'Closer' sung by none other than former Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello.

Although the video doesn't reveal much, the 10-second clip appears to show people listening to Camila's vocals over the now famous track.

The video was uploaded by a Brasilian fan account saying, 'DEMO Camila singing "Closer" @TheChainsmokers which was recorded with the Halsey.'

While this seems to be news to most people maybe this now brings into context some seemingly random tweets between Camila and The Chainsmokers in October last year.

Camila started off by simply tweeting 'Hey', to which The Chainsmokers responded with a line from 'Closer' saying, 'I was doing just fine before I met you'.

Camila then responded with the next line, before The Chainsmokers ended the conversation saying, '@camilacabello97 damnit do we miss you!'

At the time many fans speculated on a collaboration but nothing was confirmed, however there is always time as Camila says she wants to release more new music before the summer.

The 20-year-old singer recently revealed in an interview with Fault magazine that it was scary leaving behind Fifth Harmony to go solo, however she had found her own voice as "an artist and as a person".
