Lady Gaga has been named the most powerful musician in the world by Forbes Magazine.

Despite a quiet start to 2013 which saw her cancel a string of Born This Way Ball dates due to hip surgery, the US publication claims Mother Monster has still earned $80million (£52million) since 1st June 2012.

Forbes estimates that Gaga could have earned an extra $30million (£19.5million) had her agonising injury not got in the way.

It also cites her social media presence – 58million Facebook fans and 38million Twitter followers – as crucial factors in her top position on the power list.

Gaga also finished second overall in the Celebrity Top 100 behind the number one Oprah Winfrey.

Beyoncé is ranked at number two on the musicians list due to her lucrative sponsorship deals and ability to command $2million for every Mrs Carter Show tour date she plays.

Madonna is at three thanks to her MDNA tour, Taylor Swift is fourth due to her continued global success following the release of ‘Red’ and Bon Jovi complete the top five.

It’s currently unclear when Gaga’s third studio album ARTPOP will see the light of day. Fingers crossed it’s soon!
