Lady Gaga "So Happy" After Storming To No.1 with 'ARTPOP'

Mother Monster's third consecutive chart-topper

Lady Gaga has thanked her British Little Monsters after storming to no.1 with ‘ARTPOP’.

Boasting the singles ‘Applause’ and ‘Do What U Want’, the spectacular record is Lady Gaga’s third consecutive chart topper following in the footstep’s of 2008’s ‘The Fame’ and 2011’s ‘Born This Way’.

Gaga brushed aside the second fastest selling album of 2013 and last week’s number one, Eminem’s ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, to take the chart crown.

Thanking her fans, Gaga Tweeted last night: “I'm so happy! ARTPOP debuted #1 on UK Charts today! Im glad you love the music!”

Other new entries on the album chart this week included Celine Dion’s ‘Loved Me Back To Life’ at three, Little Mix’s ‘Salute’ at four and The Killers’ career-spanning compendium ‘Direct Hits’ at six.

Gaga’s triumph is the 999th Official Number 1 album in the 57 year history of the Official Album Chart.

Robbie Williams’ ‘Swing Both Ways’, JLS’s ‘Goodbye’ and Jake Bugg’s ‘Shangri-La’ are all battling it out for the 1000th no.1 this Sunday.
