The hugely anticipated new Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! arrived in cinemas last week, with box office records across the world being smashed by the feel good movie. But as the new film attempts to tell the story of what happened before the original 2008 release, eagle-eyed fans noticed a major continuity error.

Warning, if you haven't yet seen the new Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! then don't continue reading, as the below text includes major spoilers about the new movie.

WARNING: Spoiler alert!

For fans who have already seen the highly praised new movie, many noticed a continuity error involving Pierce Brosnan's character Sam Carmichael.

In the 2008 movie, Meryl Streep's character Donna Sheridan reminisces about the time she met Sam (Pierce) in the 70s, with the character sporting some very long hair and a moustache in the photos.

However, fast forward to the 2018 prequel and Pierce's character looks a lot different to how he did in flashbacks.

As the new movie shows, Donna, who is now played by actress Lily James, meets Sam (Jeremy Irvine) but he has no facial hair and supports a lot shorter looking haircut.

But of course we can forgive Mamma Mia 2 bosses for the slight error as the movie is completely amazing and is guaranteed to put you in a great mood.

Ahead of the release last week, Cool FM caught up with Lily James about how nervous she was performing the famous ABBA tracks in front of Benny and Björn.

She said, "When I got there, somehow - through the magic of who they both are - it became natural and organic and they trusted me and they shared the music with me, and I just lived my best popstar life! I gave it everything. The songs are so beautiful, they're magic."
