Not much longer to Wait For It!

Thanks to Disney+ snapping up the rights, the Hamilton theatrical film is on its way to our screens – telly screens that is – a whole lot sooner than we originally thought. Although it was originally meant to be landing in 2021, it was moved up a whole year for a release date of 3rd July 2020 on the streaming service.

Now, Disney+ have released a trailer for the upcoming film, showing the original cast in their roles on the stage. Creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda also tweeted the trailer, with the completely apt line, 'May you always be satisfied...'

Filmed under the direction of Tommy Kail (who directed the show itself), Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway musical, for the three people and koala named Kevin who don't know, blends hip-hop, swing and other music genres to tell the story of America's oft-forgotten founding father, Alexander Hamilton.

Miranda himself takes the lead role of the poverty-stricken immigrant-turned-treasury secretary in America's post-revolutionary government. A soldier, a genius and a romantic, he was also obsessive, tarred by scandal and manipulative.

Shot while the entire original cast was still in place, the show will see Miranda surrounded by the likes of Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr, Daveed Diggs as Lafayette/Jefferson, Christopher Jackson as General, then President George Washington.

Also, Jonathan Groff as King George III, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Anthony Ramos as Laurens/Philip Hamilton and Renee Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler.
