Zooey Deschanel names baby daughter after a marine animal
She reveals the highly unusual name
Zooey Deschanel and her producer fiancé Jacob Pechenik welcomed their baby daughter into the world back in July but they have only now revealed her full name.
Attending the premiere of her new movie Rock The Kasbah, Zooey said that she and Jacob opted for the ultra quirky but very lovely name Elsie Otter.
Zooey told a People magazine reporter: "It's Elsie Otter. Like the animal. Sea otter."
Recently on Twitter, Zooey joked that she already has big ambitions for her three-month-old daughter, saying: "My infant daughter is going to run for president. She remains silent all of the key issues but she's much cuter than Donald Trump."
Unlike many fellow celebs, Zooey and Jacob are highly guarded of their personal life and have revealed very little about Elsie Otter.
Zooey’s New Girl co-star Lamorne Morrie did however say recently: "She's an extremely cute baby. She looks like Zooey. Two good-looking parents will make a good-looking kid. Unless there's that one where you're like, 'Oh, you're going to make a terrible child.' But that was not gonna happen with these two.”
Although Elsie Otter is unusual, it’s definitely not the most bizarre name a celebrity has given their offspring.
