One Direction have removed Zayn Malik’s face from an introductory montage video on the band’s world tour.

The band, now consisting of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, performed their first gig since Zayn sensationally quit last week and it appears that they have removed him from the opening video.

As the band hit performed at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday evening, fans also noticed that Zayn’s solos were being covered by Niall and Louis in the band’s hit songs.

Zayn dramatically quit the band last week after initially being signed off with stress and then left to become a “normal 22-year-old”.

In an official statement, the band said: “We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love and for the future.

“The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends.

“The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour.”

Meanwhile, Niall Horan has revealed that One Direction have started work on a new album, telling fans that the recording process is still on track.

He took to Twitter recently posting: "Had a sit down last night with the label, started organising our writing sessions for the next album!"

This new follows the Zayn’s revelation that he only stayed with One Direction for the “sake of other people’s happiness”.

The singer said that he wanted to remove himself from the spotlight for a while, explaining: “You know, I did try to do something that I wasn’t happy doing for a while, for the sake of maybe other people’s happiness.”
