Vin Diesel fought back the tears as he sung ‘See You Again’ in tribute to his best mate Paul Walker at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles last night.

The Hollywood icon took to the Microsoft Theater stage to accept the award for Favourite Action Movie on behalf of Fast & Furious 7 when he broke into an impromptu rendition of the Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth them song.

Honouring his friend and co-star Paul, who died in a single-vehicle collision in November 2013, Vin sang the song’s opening lyrics: “It’s been a long day without you my friend and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.”

There were rapturous cheers from the audience and not a dry eye in the house.

It’s the second time Vin has sung ‘See You Again’ at an awards bash following his spontaneous rendition at the MTV Movie Awards in April 2015.

During his earlier speech, Vin said: "You know, as I was coming up here, I always do this. I say I'm not going to get emotional about, you know, winning these awards, and I was cool when I was sitting in my seat, and then they handed me two awards.

"They said to make this short and sweet, so I will try to make this short and sweet. It was a labour of love. My only message to you is you'd be amazed what you can do with love. You'd be amazed at how powerful a force that is.

"When we didn't want to come back to filming when the tragedy was too heavy, it was the love of everyone combined that saw us through to the end."

Fast & Furious 7 won the Favourite Movie and Favourite Action Movie honours at last night’s ceremony.
