WATCH: Highlights from the Pride of Britain Awards

The award ceremony took place in London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards 2015 took place on Monday 28th September hosted by Carol Vorderman.

The public voted for the winners who were from all walks of life and included 10-year-old Amelia Gebruers who was surprised by Olly Murs last week.

Amelia (pictured above) won her Pride of Britain Award for her inspirational efforts to raise money for a brain tumour charity, The Butterfly AVM Charity, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Other winners at the event included the some of the emergency services involved with the Alton Towers Smiler crash.

Three of the crash victims, Leah Washington, Joe Pugh and Vicky Balch were on stage to present army doctor Major David Cooper, volunteer Dr Ben Clark and aircrew paramedic Tom Waters with the award.

David Beckham was also at the ceremony to present 13-year-old Sohana Collins with the Teenager of Courage award. Sohana has a rare skin condition meaning that her skin is so fragile even her parents can't touch it. Sohana is the inspiration behind a £3.5 million fundraiser to help find a cure for the disease.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, airs Thursday at 8pm on ITV.
