EastEnders viewers have praised the show for raising disability awareness during a recent episode.

The scene in question involved characters Kim Fox and Donna Yates argue about whether it was moral to use another person’s blue badge if they don’t have a disability.

Kim, who is played by actress Tameka Empson, admitted she has been stealing Donna’s blue badge so she can park in disabled parking bays during her shopping trips.

Clearly furious, Donna decided to explain why she was in the wrong saying “Do you want to spend a day in my chair?”

She went on to add “See what it’s like not to be able to go because some stupid cow’s in there, because it’s got more space for her shopping? Do you want to have someone drive you around trying to find a parking space and then eventually when you do find one, it’s so far from the shops that it ain’t worth it anyway?

“All because the space you were supposed to be able to park in is being used by some idiot woman with a stolen badge.”

After causing a scene in the street, viewers watched on as Kim apologised for her actions.

After watching the scene air, viewers of the popular soap were quick to take to social media to praise writers for highlighting the issue.

It comes after various viewers were left confused at certain storylines in recent weeks, including bin collections and Denise’s quick growing baby bump.

The soap continues to air weekdays.
