Celebrities have been paying their respects to celebrated fashion designer and model L’Wren Scott who died yesterday.

The 49-year-old girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger was found dead in her New York apartment in what police are treating as suicide.

Mick’s Jagger’s representatives said he was “shocked and devastated” to have lost his partner of 13 years and The Rolling Stones have cancelled their scheduled show at Perth Arena in Australia tomorrow night (19th March).

Late last night, Mick’s spokeswoman, Victoria Scarfone, released a statement refuting a report that the singer and L’Wren had recently split.

"The story in the New York Post re a split between Mick Jagger and L'Wren Scott is 100% untrue," she said.

"There is absolutely no basis in fact to this story. It is a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick."

Among those responding to L’Wren’s death is her close friend Naomi Campbell who called her "the epitome of elegance and femininity".

Nicole Kidman’s spokesperson said the actress was "heartbroken and in shock right now and unable to say anything".

Fashion editor Anna Wintour called L’Wren "a total perfectionist... always unbelievably generous, gracious, kind and so much fun."

She continued: "Her old world American manners and charm were from another time, but her sensibility was always fiercely modern."

Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Bianca Jagger also paid tribute to L’Wren by tweeting: “Heartbroken to learn of the loss of the lovely and talented L'Wren Scott. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. May she rest in peace.”

Rock star and photographer Bryan Adams said: “Devastated to have lost my friend L'wren. @lwrenscott Rest in peace my dear I'm gonna miss you. Condolences to all that were close to her.”

And actress Oliva Wilde said: “L'Wren Scott was brilliant, elegant, kind, and generous. S**t. My heart goes out to her loved ones. What a tragedy.”

As a designer she created red carpet outfits for an array of celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey and Sarah Jessica Parker.
