Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left fuming after the first elimation of the series saw a cancelled dance-off.

KISS FM breakfast presenter Melvin O'Doom and American singer Anastasia found themselves in the bottom two after failing to impress viewers on Saturday night.

However, although a dance off was scheduled to take place, it was cancelled for the first time in the show's history when Anastasia suffered an injury.

The singer was forced to pull out of the dance off after she ripped her mastectomy scars and it was deemed 'too risky' to perform again by medics.

The decision of elimination went to who had the least votes from the public vote, meaning Melvin left the show.

Although he received the least amount of votes, the public didn't seem to like the decision and called the show 'unfair' for not allowing the DJ to fight for his place in the dance off.

Former Strictly dancer and controversial CBB housemate James Jordan also had his say on Twitter, calling the show a 'joke'. He said, “WHAT!!!! Totally disgusting If you can't dance in the dance off you should be the ones that leave WHAT A JOKE!!!" sic

After Melvin's departure, the 'Left Outside Alone' singer said, "I danced on Saturday even though the doctor had advised me to rest after I ripped the scar tissue around where I had my double mastectomy. After that I was unable to dance again and I was devastated that I couldn't take part in the Dance Off. I am so very sad to see Melvin and Janette go, they are the most wonderful pair and I will miss Melvin's unique spirit and beautiful smile."

The show will return next weekend with the remaining celebrities battling for their place on dance floor.
