Star Wars spin-off movie about Han Solo announced!
It's set to hit cinemas in 2018
A Star Wars spin-off telling the back-story of Han Solo has been announced.
The as-yet-untitled movie is expected for a summer 2018 release and will be written, directed and produced by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord – the duo behind The Lego Movie and the hit Jump Street films.
There are no details of the plot but, according to Hollywood reporter, father and son team Lawrence and Jon Kasdan will be helping with the script.
Lawrence Kasdan worked on The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in the earlier eighties and is one of the writers on new movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which hits cinemas this December.
Harrison Ford, who played the smuggler turned Captain of the Millennium Falcon in the first three movies, is reprising his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
It’s currently unknown who will play the young Han Solo in the new spin-off and there have been no other cast announcements.
In April, Harrison Ford set the Internet alight when he appeared in the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer and said the words “Chewie, we’re home…”
The first standalone Star Wars movie, Rogue One, hits cinemas in December 2016.
With Star Wars Episode VIII and Episode IX coming out in 2017 and 2019 respectively, there is now going to be a new Star Wars movie every year for the next five years. Result!
