Sir Tom Jones offers unusual advice to One Direction
Take note boys!
Sir Tom Jones has offered some unusual career advice to One Direction – fine alcohol, no cigarettes and a good night’s sleep.
The 75-year-old, speaking at The Q Awards, is reported to have said that he doesn’t think One Direction has 50 years and they'll have to make some sacrificies along the way.
He added "no matter what time I go to bed I look at the clock and get eight hours sleep".
The star first shot to fame in the sixties with 'It's Not Unusual' and has enjoyed decades of success since, including 36 songs in the UK Top 40 and selling over 100 million records.
The 'She's a Lady' singer says the two things that most helped him was avoiding cigarettes (as they ‘burn and dry out’ the vocal chords) and enjoying champagne, wine or cognac. Very sophisticated!
The outspoken celebrity's top tip is that singers should avoid ‘vocal gymnastics’ by trying to hit lots of notes - as he says it's not natural and can damage the voice. After such an esteemed career, who could argue with him?
The Welsh singer has recently released his autobiography ‘Over The Top and Back’ as well as a new album ‘Long Lost Suitcase’.
