Simon Thomas suffers more family heartbreak after his wife tragically died
His father-in-law has passed away
TV presenter Simon Thomas' world fell apart back in 2017, when his wife Gemma tragically died just days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Simon, who now raises the couple's nine-year-old son on his own, has suffered even more heartbreak as he revealed his beloved father-in-law has sadly passed away.
Sharing a number of cute photos of his son with his granddad, Simon wrote, ‘Life can feel very cruel. Last night Gemma’s Dad’s life reached its end as Myeloma took its final toll,’ adding that his heart went out to his sister-in-law Rebecca, ‘It’s devastating for Rebecca who in fourteen months has lost half of her family to #bloodcancer and heartbreaking for Ethan who only a month ago said, “why do I keep losing everything I love?” Now he’s lost the man with whom he had the most special of relationships - the man he called ‘Pompa’. sic
Friends and fans of Simon were quick to comment on the photo, sending their condolences to his family.
One user wrote, 'I'm so sorry. What a lovely man he looks. RIP', with another adding, 'So sorry you have to experience more loss. Love and prayers to you both ❤️'. sic A third then wrote, 'Life can be so cruel 😢 heart breaking x'. sic
Simon revealed the death of his late wife in a heartbreaking tweets in November 2017, writing, 'Today I am crushed with indescribable pain. Just three days after falling ill with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, my dear wife Gemma passed away yesterday evening surrounded by her family and friends. If you are a prayer - pray for my boy Ethan. 8yrs, precious and in bits. Thank you.' sic
The former Sky Sports presenter has been praised by fans for being open about his loss, and the way he's dealt with it with his young boy Ethan.
Meanwhile, late in 2018 it was revealed that Simon has now found love again with his church minister’s daughter Derrina Jebb.
The pair had been seen together in a number of pictures obtained by The Sun, with a source saying, “The relationship came as a shock because it was not something Simon was looking for at all. But as soon as he met Derrina the pair had a connection.
“She is a Christian and the daughter of a well-respected minister."
Despite this, Simon is yet to go public with Derrina.
