The X Factor viewers were left in shock last night (Sunday 30th November) when Simon Cowell mistakenly chose to send his own act home from the show.

Simon’s act Gifty Louise found herself in the sing-off against girl group Four Of Diamonds and when it was Simon’s turn to choose which act he was sending home, he said Gifty, leaving both the studio audience and viewers at home in complete shock.

The music mogul quickly realised his mistake and changed his mind but it was too late as Louis, Sharon and Nicole all chose to send the singer home.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor, Simon told show host Rylan Clark-Neal that it was his fault Gifty lost her place on the show and admitted he made a ‘mistake’ on her song choice. He said, “It was my mistake Gifty as I gave you that song.”

Following her elimination from the show, Gifty appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning (Monday 31st October) to state she was ‘shocked’ when she was given the boot. Speaking to Richard Arnold, Gifty said, "I was shocked. I felt like I’d been very consistent every single week, I don’t feel like I had a bad week. I was hoping to make it far at least on to the tour and make a career out of it.”
