Robin Thicke got teary eyed at the BET Awards in Los Angeles last night when dedicating a song to his estranged wife Paula Patton.

Before launching into his new song ‘Forever Love’, a clearly emotional Thicke looked into the camera and said: "Good evening, my name is Robin Thicke, I’d like to dedicate this song to my wife, and say, 'I miss you, and I’m sorry.' This is called Forever Love."

Visibly moved at times during the piano ballad, Thicke even paused the song momentarily to wipe his nose after a little whimper. Bless.

‘Forever Love’ is lifted from Thicke’s new album ‘Paula’, which also includes reconciliation songs such as ‘Still Mad Crazy’, ‘Love Can Grow Back’, ‘Get Her Back’ and ‘You’re My Fantasy’.

Former high school sweethearts, Thicke and Patton announced they were separating after nine years of marriage in February.

Thicke’s recently premiered ‘Get Her Back’ video is an intensely personal ode to Paula and sees him sing into the camera as text messages including ‘I love you’, ‘you drink too much’ and ‘I can't make love to you anymore’ flash across the screen.

The singer will be hoping the recreate the success of his inescapable and controversial single ‘Blurred Lines’, which was the biggest selling song of 2013 in the UK shifting almost 1.5million copies.
