Robbie Williams raises £150,000 for children's charity auctioning off prize possessions
He even takes to the hammer
Maximum respect to Robbie Williams! The former Take That star raised a whopping £150,000 for a children’s charity by auctioning off his prized showbiz possessions.
Sporting a rather fetching blonde Mohican, the Robster surprised the auction house by taking control of the hammer to sell off the handwritten lyrics to his Kylie Minogue duet ‘Kids’ for £6,875.
Among the 150 items from his two-decade career that sold included the ‘Let Me Entertainment’ lyrics for £2,750 and Robbie’s 1994 MTV viewers choice award he won with Take That for £10,625.
A cream two-piece suit worn in the ‘Radio’ video went for £5,250, while the surprise star lot was the handwritten lyrics to ‘Go Gentle’ that sold for £31,250.
The were also a series of signed platinum discs from Robbie’s solo and Take That career, a variety of clothing items including gold boots, a stunning pink suit and blinged up Adidas tracksuit.
All proceeds from the sale went directly to the Donna Louise Children's Hospice in Robbie’s home town of Stoke-on-Trent. Robbie is also a patron of the hospital trust.
Robbie said afterwards: "It's been a privilege to auction some of my most prized possessions from my life and career to raise money for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice.
"The charity does such great work and I know they will put the money to very good use for the children and families they care for. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart."
