Love Island star, Matthew MacNabb swapped the villa for the dance floor this year, taking part in Dancing with the Stars on RTE.

Matthew and his partner Laura Nolan were voted off the show tonight, during an action-packed semi-final, following a dance off against Dublin singer-songwriter Erica Cody.

With the final just a few days away, Matthew narrowly missed out on lifting the glitter ball trophy.

In his goodbye speech, Matthew said: "It's an absolute rollercoaster, you put in seven days a week, 10 hours every day, it's been amazing. I’ve grown so much as a person, I feel like a completely different person.

When asked about his journey in the competition with partner Laura, Matthew added: "Thank you most importantly to Laura, she is so talented and so amazing at what she does. She's an amazing person."

Fighting back tears, Laura replied: "I want to thank you as well, I think his journey has been incredible from start to finish. From someone who has never performed before, never danced before, to doing one of the most difficult dances tonight and nailing it.

"I want to say thanks for your hard work and to the whole team.”

The Dancing with the Stars grand final airs on Sunday 27th March on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player at 6:30pm.
